Construction Underway for New Park in West Seattle
Demolition of the old Denny Middle School is complete and construction of a new four-acre park in West Seattle is underway. The park is a joint effort between the Seattle School District and Seattle Parks and Recreation.
A stakeholder committee input process generated three scenarios from which we created a preferred park master plan. Features include a softball field and tennis courts that will be used by the School District. The park also includes a play area, and streams created from harvested rainwater. In addition, many existing trees will be preserved on site.
The resulting master site plan provides much-needed park space for the community while also accommodating space for a new school building to be constructed at the site at some point in the future.
Below are a couple aerial progress shots of the demolition.
