I am fascinated with design which facilitates the interaction between individuals and place and evolves over time to suit community needs. With an architectural and planning background, I combine my passions for ecology, collaborative research and community design into my work approach. My work experience includes architecture and community design projects. Before I came to the Seattle area, I volunteered for the Colorado Center for Community Developmentāa program which offers affordable, professional design and planning assistance to small rural communities. Since moving to Seattle, I received my Master of Architecture and Master of Urban Planning at the University of Washington. In 2009 and 2011 I had the opportunity to participate in the Neighborhood Design Build Program, and as part of a multidisciplinary team we designed and constructed small community projects for Wellspring Family Services and El Centro De La Rasa.
I am enthusiastic about projects which synthesize multiple scales and transcend disciplinary boundaries. Before joining Berger as a staff member I spent the summer of 2011 researching urban agriculture for an internship report called Productive Neighborhoods. When out of the office, I can be found outside attempting to translate my urban agriculture research into practice or exploring Seattle with another one of my interests, photography.
