Julie Berger’s “Affinity” Installed

November 11th, 2005

The Berger Partnership has installed a sculpture from Julie Berger, entitled “Affinity,” at the 8th Avenue office building. “Affinity” was featured in the 2005 West Edge Sculpture Invitational (WESI) exhibition. The exhibition stretched the Harbor Steps from Western Avenue to First Avenue as well as the landings around the southside of the Seattle Art Museum and Benaroya Hall. Sculptures of 37 artists were on display between July 7th and September 11th.

“My art is a balancing act, an expression of movement through structure, pattern, and form. I grew up in a rural environment and have carried my deep passion for nature into the city where I now weave together aspects of the natural world, cultural diversity, and the architecture that enriches our urban experience. I observe everything that defines a space, from a blade of grass to the edge of a building. As I ponder each element, stories reveal themselves to me and I find a language to express the images, symbols, and myths that are integrated into every piece of art I create.”- Julie Berger
