We have officially posted our 2007 Summer Internship Program! The program will be a combination of practicum & research. The selected intern will be have their hands in actual projects, working directly with project managers & principals. They will also be doing research on the use of water in landscape design (stormwater, irrigation, grey water recycling, etc) & presenting results to the firm at the end of the program. The National Arbor Day Foundation has just released a new 2006 Hardiness Zone Map on their website
. This map separates the country into ten different temperature zones to help people select the right trees to plant where they live. Based on the lasted weather station data, the map show that many areas have become warmer since 1990; significant portions of states have shifted one or more zones. This shift is consistent with the consensus of climate scientists that global warming occurring. You can enter your zip code to find your hardiness zone, as well as see the zone shift at the site.

We decided that the easiest (and most fun) way to decide which green roof systems and plantings worked the best, was to install our own test plots. The first one was installed last week and was provided by Garland Roof Systems
