Jefferson Park Takes Shape - Article in the DJC

June 26th, 2008

An article was featured in the DJC about the current development of Jefferson Park in Beacon Hill.

From the article, “A 270,000-square-foot cavernous space underground in Beacon Hill will soon be underwater, making room for 26 acres of parkland above. Crews will finish burying the Beacon Hill Reservoir within the next few weeks and the Seattle parks department expects to go out for bid by December to recreate Jefferson Park, more than doubling its size. “

San Juan Island Residential Green Roof

June 17th, 2008

We have been working on the Northbay Residential Green Roof and are excited to see the first round of plantings. The project is located near Roche Harbor on San Juan Island. Here are some quick facts for you:

  • The project contains 4″ of soil from Specialty Soils
  • Six varieties of sedum taken from the Clinton Beach green roof
  • Costs came to approximately $12 per square foot, thanks in large part to our landscape contractor for their help keeping costs down
  • The green roof will not have irrigation set up at this point, but will most likely be watered with a hose through the summer

We are really excited about the project and will keep you updated on all of the progress!

Patrick Blanc’s Vertical Garden - For the Home

June 12th, 2008

For those of us admiring Patrick Blanc’s Vertical Gardensoff-site link all over the world - we are excited to be a little closer to having one in our homes or offices. In coordination with Alexis Tricoireoff-site link, a prototype for a free-standing vegetal wall was shown at the Milan furniture fair this year. The wall is a rust-colored metal structure with integrated irrigation and lighting. Units are indoor/outdoor and are designed to work on their own or together, forming a seamless wall.
