Marketplace @ Factoria in WorldChanging

August 7th, 2008

WorldChanging recently posted, “The Future of Shopping Malls: An Image Essayoff-site link” on their Seattle branch website. The article talks about the influence of malls on American culture, the fall of many & the optimistic future of some. They inquire about the future of these massive, empty sites (see Dead Mallsoff-site link). In Bellevue, as Factoria Mall loses many of its retailers, Kimco Development Groupoff-site link has turned to a redevelopment that will focus on becoming a useful, long-term multipurpose community space, Marketplace @ Factoriaoff-site link. The Berger Partnership is working on this project which will house retailers, as well as include pedestrian walkways, outdoor dining and residential units.
