Jason Henry, Andy Mitton & Jan Satterthwaite were one of several hundred people to first view the splendid display gardens of the 20th Annual Northwest Flower & Garden Show gala event benefiting the Washington Park Arboretum. The theme of this year’s gala was “Cascadia — the Pacific Northwest.” It is in recognition of the new Cascadia immersion forest designed by The Berger Partnership located in the Washington Park Arboretum, part of the new 14-acre Pacific Connections Garden.

Due to the retirement of the show founders, we savored what may be the last of this event with delicious food, wine, live music, and live auction. King 5 TV Anchor Brad Goode emceed the auction, which featured vacations, cruises, dining, getaway frenzies and garden art. One of the favorite auction items was Georgia Gerber’s “Tall Fox” bronze statue. The TBP team met up with many noted garden personalities, including Cisco Morris. It was a night to remember!

Rachael Meyer & Jonathan Morley, along with Rushing Blackbird’s Katrina Morgan are featured in today’s Green Building Special Edition put out by the DJC. The article titled, How Seattle Can Really Help Green Roofs Grow addresses how Seattle has found itself with a unique opportunity to spark widespread acceptance of green roofs.

The Area 3 Century Tree has been installed at Center Park! The 8” caliper Quercus rubra / Red Oak is the second century tree to be installed at Salishan. The Century Trees are a collection of 3 iconic trees in each neighborhood planned for the next 100 years. The first tree is a Sequoiadendron giganteum which is located in Wetland Park at the terminus of Salishan Boulevard in Area 1, and the third Century Tree will be part of the Salishan phase 2B project. Together the trees represent the past, present, and future of the Salishan neighborhood.
