Jan Satterthwaite

Project Manager, LEED® AP

Jan holds degrees in biochemistry and landscape architecture and brings 18 years of experience as an artist & scientific illustrator. Past work ranges from resource efficient demonstration gardens for the Tacoma Police Department to estuary restoration at Sinclair Inlet. She is particularly interested in the design of therapeutic environments. Her master's thesis bridged design, theater practices, and laughter therapy for a rooftop garden at Gilda's Club in Seattle. She's recieved honors for her landscape design work from the NW Flower & Garden Show, Street of Dreams, ASLAoff-site link, EDRAoff-site link and National Garden Clubs Inc.off-site link. Her artwork has been in exhibitions at the Smithsonian Institutionoff-site link, Guild of Natural Science Illustratorsoff-site link, National Wildlife Federation Galleryoff-site link, & the NW Flower & Garden Showoff-site link.

In her spare time Jan likes to travel with her family and volunteer at a local elementary school. Carl Sagan once said 'We make our world significant by the courage of our questions and the depth of our answers.' Kids definitely have that first part down and provide great inspiration for design.
