Anchor Flats (1511 Dexter) is a much-needed affordable housing option in Seattle’s burgeoning South Lake Union neighborhood. A roof deck offers views of downtown and the Lake Union for residents to enjoy. The 71-unit complex has easy access to transit and was built to maintain views for neighbors uphill. The planting material includes street trees and native understory. The project team collaborated with adjacent neighbors to preserves views for the uphill neighbor while meeting development objectives. The goal of Bellwether housing, the developer of Anchor Flats, is that is serves those who make single-person incomes of around $35,000 a year.
