Summer Internship

We are excited to announce the launch of our 2026 Summer Internship Program!

At Berger Partnership, we recognize the importance of connecting with students to enhance their academic studies and prepare them for professional practice. Each year, our research-focused internship energizes our office with an infusion of new ideas, pioneering thought, and the energy of a fresh new personality. We seek interns who are excited to add to our firm culture, bring new perspectives, and are inspired by learning, sharing, and supporting project work.

This program is structured around delving into a topic of your choosing to understand its impact to the profession and the greater global community. Subjects can be an interest you’re passionate about and wish to explore, an area of academic study, development of specific landscape typologies, or a site-specific design initiative.

With support from office staff, you’ll develop a workflow for the summer and establish applicability of the topic to our work at a range of project scales. The work will rely on research and experimentation with our in-house team and outside resources to build a shared knowledge base. In addition to research, the selected intern will spend time on practicum, office project work, and site visits to provide hands-on project experience in a collaborative team environment.

You can expect to end the summer with a research project that builds upon your continued academic studies, greatly enhances your job applications, and bolsters your portfolio. The practicum portion of the internship offers you applicable experience throughout a range of project types and phases.

APPLICATION SPECIFICATIONS:

The paid internship is open to all landscape architecture and urban design students and will run 8-12 weeks, approximately 40 hours per week. Accommodation in Seattle is the responsibility of the intern to organize; no housing allowance is included. The intern will be expected to present their research and findings to the office at the conclusion of the internship. Applicants should be self-starters and demonstrate excellence in design communication skills including graphics and writing.

Please submit a cover letter which concisely proposes your study topic, a resume, and representative work, in that order, as a single 10-page PDF by email.
