Meydenbauer Bay Park
Bellevue, WA
With its distinctive curved pier and stunning views, Meydenbauer Bay Park is one of Bellevue’s most popular destinations. The park includes a beach house with restrooms and showers, a swim beach, a hand-carry boat launch, picnic areas and a children’s play area. Phased development now offers the opportunity to expand the existing 2.5 acre park east and connect via the iconic Grand Connection through Old Bellevue, Downtown Park, Downtown Bellevue and finally to the Light Rail and Wilburton’s East Rail corridor.
The majority of the area of the park impacted by this expansion is located along shoreline and steep slopes and looks to improve accessibility and enhance the experience of entering and navigating the park by creating a memorable, ecologically enhanced pedestrian promenade. This promenade will replace an outdated bulkhead with a new, ecologically responsive Lake Washington shoreline. The phase will also include improved parking, wayfinding, and marina enhancements.
Through site investigations and a robust community engagement process, our multidisciplinary team is optimizing the existing 2010 Meydenbauer Bay Park and Land Use Plan to meet 2025’s conditions and priorities, and establish a plan to reach a finished park. Input from residents and visitors has guided phasing and design, with an emphasis on a variety of amenities, safe and accessible routes to and within the park, while prioritizing nature, views, improved parking and water access.
