NE 8th Street Crossing Wins Civil Engineering Achievement Award

The six-span, pre-fabricated, steel bridge structure features a 170-foot main span supported on columns, with abutments and reinforced earthen slopes that provide both foundations for approach ramps, and protection from scour from the adjacent Sturtevant Creek. Key features of the project include connection to the Wilburton Light Rail Station, a signature 500-foot-long articulating pedestrian bridge, two bike/pedestrian mixing zones with rest areas, construction in a highly constrained corridor, custom trail lighting, and the integration of a Japanese Heritage exhibit.
