Our team led the landscape design for the renewal of Seattle’s iconic Westlake Park, balancing preservation with the needs of a changing downtown.
Working alongside Seattle Parks Foundation, Seattle Parks & Recreation, Sellen Construction, Pine Street Group, and community stakeholders, the team reconfigured the park to improve connectivity, open sightlines, and create new green space. Native planting areas strengthened ecological resilience and improved growing conditions, allowing 34 of the site’s 35 mature trees to be preserved while introducing seasonal interest through an entirely native plant palette. Infrastructure upgrades, accessibility improvements, and the careful restoration of the park’s signature basketweave paving ensure Westlake Park can continue to support both everyday use and major civic events for years to come.
