Pike Place Market Waterfront Entry Taking Shape

The Pike Place Market waterfront Entry is an expansion of the existing Pike Place Market, a civic icon of Seattle, and a future connection to the city’s redeveloped Central Waterfront.  The project replaces an underutilized parking lot with a dynamic plaza, additional market vendor space, retail and affordable housing for seniors.  With a focus on westward views, the new public spaces create pockets of gathering, seating and planting, all of which can be hard to find in the existing market.  Berger is charged with blending the future waterfront plans with the gritty character of the market in order to create a public realm and new connections that highlight the best features of both iconic places.
